Packbridge is an open innovation arena for packaging and logistics, a rapidly growing network for the packaging industry and all of its stakeholders – customers, suppliers, researchers and innovators. The idea with Packbridge is to create a meeting place that naturally links together industry with academia, research with commercial applications and – perhaps most important of all – people with people.
Skåne is home to a large number of packaging companies, and the region can also boast a significant proportion of the Swedish food industry, which is by far the largest consumer of packaging. The academic world is also extensive, with institutions for materials, packaging and logistics.
Packbridge's vision is to become one of the world's leading arenas for research, innovation, entrepreneurship and enterprise within packaging and packaging technology. Packbridge, which is based in Malmö, currently has 230 member companies.
Packbridge was established in 2010, with Region Skåne, Lund University and the companies Flextrus, Nordvalls and ÅR Carton as the initiators. The operation, which supports regional growth within the packaging sector in part through innovation, is growing strongly and is now a leading player in northern Europe as regards packaging-related, innovation-supporting development of open arenas.
